Most chalkboards only seem nonporous, but they are actually slightly porous and that's why ink may leave marks after erasing. We recommend priming ALL chalkboards before use.
To prime the chalkboard
- Lay a piece of regular chalk on its side and cover your entire board with chalk.
- Rub it in with a dry cloth and then erase.
- When you prime the whole board, all the pores get filled with the primer chalk
- Your future writings will go on nicely, and erase easily.
This is the easiest and most efficient way to save your chalkboard from erasing problems later. It will be easy to remove chalk ink form primed surface and you won't have to worry about shadows that usually remain after erasing unprimed nonporous chalkboards.
However, we have to state that NOT ALL CHALKBOARDS are nonporous and we strongly advise you to test them before use (see our post about testing surfaces).
We can't guarantee that your chalkboard is nonporous, be we always advise to test them. Our main goal is to ensure carefree and enjoyable use of our products that put a smile on your face.
